Referrals for placements are accepted from both Court Services and Social Services. When a youth is added to our intake list, he is assigned to a group.  There is a two week window in which the youth can join his respective group.  Each group's release date is projected at the time of referral. The average length of stay is 105 days. The referring agency arranges for  transportation to Thistledew, but parents may pick up the youth after graduation. To reserve a space, please call Lola prior to the youth's court date. Once a youth is placed on our list, we will mail the referring agency an intake packet, or you may download this packet by clicking HERE. Students must have a physical within the last 30 days or one can be provided by Thistledew. Placement Criteria Thistledew is an early-intervention program in a minimum security setting. Each student is evaluated on an individual basis according to the following guidelines: Boys from age 13 to 17. 18 year olds are considered in certain circumstances. Youths enrolled in school or eligible for GED. All students must participate in Thistledew's Education Program by working toward a GED or continuing education requirements. Any history of assaultive behavior will be closely examined. EJJ's are accepted on an individual basis. Billing and payment Process: Per diem rate from July 1, 2007 to June 30, 2008 - $167.00.
